Veterans Day Dads

On the eleventh day of the eleventh month, America honors all veterans, living and dead, current and former, infantry and administration, who have served in the U.S. military. It’s a day that’s both celebratory and sobering, as we consider the uncountable number of man- and woman-hours devoted to service and sacrifice.

This Veterans Day, we had every intention of expressing our gratitude in words, but frankly, nothing we write can compare to the thanks and love shown in these videos of military dads and their surprise reunions with the children who have missed them so terribly. There are hundreds of these all over the Internet, and we link to them in our Twitter feed as often as we can, because in fractious, brittle times likes these, this is the sort of raw emotion that helps remind us of our humanity.

A few of our favorites are below. They may fire your emotions up to eleven.
